Kenya

We we just finished our first day of VBS here in Kenya. In case you have not been reading our trip blog you should know that things so far have been smooth but crazy all at the same time. It started with us checking 27 bags in Amarillo when we left town. After a short flight to Dallas and two longer ones we arrived in Nairobi to find out that not a single bag had made the trip. So that not only meant we had no personal items, but we also did not have any medicine for the doctors to use or VBS items. Finally after many phone calls and trips to the airport we finally picked up our bags at 7:30 this morning.

The other interesting thing so far is that in preparation for VBS we were told to plan for 32 kids. Being the children’s minister that I am and never wanting to run short on items we packed for 45 kids. This is all well and good except we ended up having nearly 300 kids today. Instead of just working with the kids in the orphanage we are doing VBS for the whole school.

These two things plus a few others have made everything on this trip really funny. No matter how much preparation time we spent God has His own agenda so we might as well get on board. We are having such a great time and I look forward to seeing all that God is going to do. Have a good one!
